£28,000–£35,000 per year, depending on experience and proven results
Full-time
About Back British Farming
Back British Farming is a British clothing brand and campaign with a much bigger ambition than simply selling clothes.
Our clothing is a way of spreading a message, supporting British farming and connecting with people who care about British agriculture, rural communities and the countryside.
We’re growing and have a huge amount planned.
We want to build our social media presence, develop YouTube channels, launch podcasts, attend more trade shows and agricultural events, create charitable initiatives, produce informative and entertaining content, develop new products and significantly improve our website and online presence.
We’re now looking for an experienced, creative and highly motivated Brand & Content Executive to join the team and take day-to-day ownership of our content and digital presence.
This is a varied, hands-on role with a huge amount of opportunity to make your mark.
The Role
This is not a basic social media job.
We’re looking for someone who understands how to grow a brand, build an audience and create content that people actually want to watch and share.
You’ll work closely with our management team and take day-to-day ownership of Back British Farming’s:
- Social media
- Content creation
- Short-form video
- YouTube
- Podcasting
- Digital campaigns
- Website content and improvements
- Events and trade-show content
- Online brand presence
You’ll have a lot of freedom to bring ideas to the table.
We don’t want someone who needs to be told what to post every day.
We want someone who can look at the brand, understand our audience, look at the data and say:
“This is what’s working. This is what isn’t. Here’s what I think we should do next.”
What You’ll Be DoingSocial Media
You’ll take day-to-day ownership of our social media channels, including:
- Instagram
- Facebook
- TikTok
- YouTube Shorts
- Other relevant platforms
You’ll:
- Develop content ideas
- Create and publish regular content
- Produce Reels, TikToks, Shorts and other short-form videos
- Create informative and educational posts
- Create graphics and carousels using Canva
- Identify trends and opportunities
- Develop content with genuine viral potential
- Create recurring content series
- Write captions and social copy
- Engage with our community
- Monitor performance
- Analyse statistics and adjust our approach
- Help grow our reach, following and engagement
- Turn our products, campaigns, beliefs and stories into content people want to share
We’re looking for someone who understands that going viral isn’t a strategy in itself — content needs to build the brand and ultimately help grow the business.
Video, YouTube & Podcasting
We’re not stopping at social media.
We want to build proper media channels around Back British Farming.
You’ll help us develop:
- YouTube channels
- YouTube Shorts
- Podcasts
- Interviews
- Farming and rural stories
- Behind-the-scenes content
- Event coverage
- Campaign films
- Longer-form educational and entertaining content
You’ll be expected to be comfortable getting your phone or camera out and creating content yourself.
You don’t need to be a professional film crew, but you should have a good understanding of filming, lighting, sound and editing — or be capable of learning quickly and coordinating external support when required.
Website & E-commerce
Our website is an important part of the business and we want it to be constantly improving.
You’ll be expected to look at the website through the eyes of a customer and identify opportunities to make it better.
This could include:
- Improving product pages
- Improving product photography and presentation
- Creating campaign and landing pages
- Improving the customer journey
- Improving the way our campaigns connect with the website
- Identifying ways to increase conversion
- Keeping content fresh
- Making sure the website reflects what we’re doing across social media
- Identifying areas where external web-development support may be required
You don’t need to be a web developer.
However, you should have a strong eye for design, presentation, usability and e-commerce and be confident making content and straightforward improvements yourself.
Events, Trade Shows & Content
This won’t be a desk-only role.
Back British Farming will be attending trade shows, agricultural shows, events, campaigns, charity events, product launches and other opportunities.
You’ll be involved in capturing those moments and turning them into content.
You’ll need to be comfortable:
- Filming
- Taking photographs
- Interviewing people
- Talking to customers
- Talking to farmers
- Finding interesting stories
- Creating content on location
- Working in busy environments
- Travelling when required
We want our events to become content opportunities, not simply days out.
Campaigns & Brand Development
You’ll also have the opportunity to help develop bigger campaigns around the Back British Farming brand.
This could include:
- Clothing launches
- Campaigns supporting British farming
- Charity initiatives
- Community projects
- Competitions
- Collaborations
- Influencer and creator campaigns
- Events
- Seasonal campaigns
- New media projects
We’re looking for someone who sees opportunities everywhere.
If something happens and your first thought is:
“We could make a brilliant piece of content out of that.”
— you’ll probably fit in very well.
Product Design & Creativity
There will also be opportunities to contribute ideas to our products and overall brand.
This could include:
- New clothing ideas
- Graphics
- Product concepts
- Campaign merchandise
- Packaging
- Creative direction
- Product launches
You don’t need to be an experienced clothing designer, but creativity, initiative and a good eye for branding would be a major advantage.
Rural & Farming Knowledge
This is important to us.
Back British Farming is not simply another clothing brand.
Our campaign is connected to British farming, agriculture, rural communities and the countryside, so we need someone who genuinely understands — or wants to understand — the people we’re speaking to.
Ideally, you’ll have first-hand experience of farming, agriculture or the rural sector.
If you don’t have a farming background, you should nevertheless have a genuine interest in:
- British farming
- Agriculture
- Rural Britain
- The countryside
- Rural communities
- The issues affecting farmers and the agricultural industry
You should be comfortable attending agricultural shows, talking to farmers and rural businesses and learning about the industry.
You don’t need to know everything when you start.
But you must be genuinely interested.
A farming or rural background would be a significant advantage.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with proven commercial experience.
This isn’t a role for someone fresh out of college who has only run their own social media account.
We want someone who has already worked for businesses, brands or organisations and can demonstrate that their work has produced results.
You should have:
- Previous professional experience in social media, content, digital marketing, brand marketing or a similar role
- A demonstrable record of growing an audience, brand or business
- Strong knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube
- Excellent understanding of short-form video
- The ability to create content yourself
- Strong copywriting skills
- Excellent visual judgement
- Experience using Canva and other relevant creative tools
- A good understanding of e-commerce and online conversion
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work independently
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset
- A willingness to bring ideas rather than simply follow instructions
- Reliability and trustworthiness
- The ability to work as part of a growing team
- A willingness to attend events and travel when required
Experience in any of the following would be a major advantage:
- Growing a consumer brand
- Clothing or fashion
- E-commerce
- Shopify
- YouTube
- Podcasting
- Photography
- Videography
- Video editing
- Paid social
- Email marketing
- SEO
- Website optimisation
- Product design
- Influencer/creator marketing
- Campaign management
- Agriculture
- Farming
- Rural businesses or organisations
