Overview
We are seeking a self-employed Floor Layer to undertake professional flooring installation and related tasks. This role involves working independently on various projects, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will possess relevant construction experience and be comfortable working with a variety of tools and materials. Flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic are essential qualities for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare subfloors and surfaces for flooring installation, ensuring they meet required standards.
- Measure, cut, and lay different types of flooring materials such as laminate, hardwood, vinyl, or carpet.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently to complete installations accurately and safely.
- Read and interpret schematics, plans, or technical drawings to execute projects correctly.
- Perform minor carpentry tasks as needed to facilitate flooring installation or repairs.
- Apply finishing touches including sealing, trimming, or moulding to achieve a polished look.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout each project.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times during work activities.
Skills
- Proven construction experience with a focus on flooring or related trades.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as saws, chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers.
- Experience with power tools including drills, sanders, and cutters.
- Strong carpentry skills for framing or subfloor preparation tasks.
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately.
- Knowledge of construction painting techniques is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Good physical fitness for lifting heavy materials and working in various environments.

Pay: £150.00-£180.00 per day
