We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).
We are currently seeking an exceptional HR Advisor to join our team. This is a Group role with a strong focus on employee relations, manager coaching and delivering consistent, compliant HR processes across the business. The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and grow with our company.
The main duties of the HR Advisor role will include:
- Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employee relations matters.
- Providing coaching and guidance to line managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance and capability issues.
- Leading employee relations casework and providing coaching and guidance to line managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability issues.
- Supporting managers with both short and long-term absence management cases, liaising with Occupational Health providers and facilitating successful outcomes.
- Managing statutory leave processes, including maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave and flexible working requests.
- Supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and providing guidance to managers on employee welfare matters and appropriate interventions.
- Supporting learning and development initiatives, including the delivery of training on employment practices and people management topics.
- Promoting employee engagement initiatives, coaching managers on effective communication and supporting a positive workplace culture.
- Supporting internal communications, employee forums and collaborative engagement activities across the Group.
- Contributing to HR projects and supporting the delivery of the Group HR strategy.

To be successful in this HR Advisor role at Express Engineering, you will:
- Have previous experience in a hands-on HR generalist role.
- Demonstrate experience managing a varied employee relations caseload and possess a strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
- Be confident coaching and influencing managers at all levels.
- Have excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Be highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Be comfortable analysing HR data and using insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate a proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent internal customer service.
- Hold CIPD qualification or possess equivalent experience.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment would be advantageous.

This is a full-time, permanent role, based on-site Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 7:30am to 1:30pm. We are happy to discuss flexible working options around working hours.
