About the Role
Bouncing Statistics is looking for passionate, resilient and dedicated teachers to join our growing Alternative Provision at Eden House, Walsall.
We are recruiting teachers across our core curriculum areas:
Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with QTS.
If you are qualified and experienced in more than one of these subject areas, you are welcome to apply for multiple subjects.
This is an opportunity to teach in a small, relationship-led Alternative Provision setting supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including SEND, SEMH, attendance difficulties, exclusion, disengagement and challenging educational experiences.
With a maximum 1:7 teacher-to-pupil ratio, teachers have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, understand individual barriers to learning and deliver genuinely personalised education.
We are looking for teacher(s) who can maintain high expectations while recognising that some young people require greater flexibility, patience and support to successfully engage with learning.
Flexible Teaching Model
This is an ongoing, flexible teaching opportunity designed for teachers who want to work within Alternative Provision without necessarily committing to a traditional full-time teaching contract.
Teachers may be offered regular sessions within their subject area, with the opportunity to increase their hours as Eden House grows.
The role may suit teachers who are:
- Looking for flexible teaching hours.
- Seeking experience within Alternative Provision.
- Experienced in SEND or SEMH education.
- Returning to teaching.
- Working across multiple educational settings.
- An ECT looking to develop their teaching experience.
- Looking for a smaller, more relationship-focused teaching environment.
There is potential for regular and increased teaching hours for teachers who are a strong fit for the provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons within your specialist subject.
- Plan and prepare lessons where required, adapting resources to meet individual learner needs.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH.
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils.
- Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour and conduct.
- Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support behaviour.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress.
- Adapt teaching in response to assessment and individual learning needs.
- Contribute to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
- Provide appropriate feedback on pupil progress and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Student Engagement Officers and the wider Eden House team.
- Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Promote excellent attendance, punctuality and engagement.
- Contribute to enrichment, personal development and educational visits where appropriate.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Record safeguarding and behaviour concerns accurately using CPOMS.
- Contribute to the continued development of the Eden House curriculum and teaching approach.
About You
We are looking for teachers who are passionate about education but recognise that the traditional classroom does not work for every young person.
You will be someone who can combine high expectations with empathy, consistency and flexibility.
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent.
- Applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcomed.
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths or Science.
- Experience teaching children or young people.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Commitment to inclusive education.
- Ability to adapt teaching to individual learner needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider team.
Desirable
- Experience working within Alternative Provision, PRU or SEMH settings.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
- Experience supporting pupils at risk of exclusion.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
- Knowledge of restorative approaches.
- Experience developing Individual Learning Plans.
- Experience using CPOMS.
- Experience delivering intervention or personalised learning programmes.
- Ability to teach more than one core subject.
