Duties
- Carry out thorough cleaning of communal areas within residential buildings, including entrance lobbies, corridors, stairwells, lifts, bin stores, laundry rooms, and other shared facilities.
- Clean and maintain HMOs, including communal kitchens, bathrooms, lounges, hallways, and other shared accommodation areas, ensuring high standards of hygiene are maintained.
- Perform cleaning services within single-family homes where required, including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, and utility rooms in accordance with client specifications.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, polish, dust, and sanitise all internal surfaces using appropriate cleaning equipment, chemicals, and techniques.
- Clean internal glazing, mirrors, doors, handrails, skirting boards, light switches, and other frequently touched surfaces.
- Empty bins, replace liners, and dispose of waste safely in accordance with local waste management procedures.
- Restock consumables including toilet tissue, hand soap, paper towels, and other hygiene products where applicable.
- Conduct deep cleaning services as required, including carpet cleaning, hard floor maintenance, oven cleaning, and high-level dusting.
- Follow scheduled cleaning programmes to ensure all assigned properties are maintained to agreed service standards.
- Report maintenance defects, damage, pest activity, health and safety concerns, or safeguarding issues promptly to supervisors.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals and equipment, complying with COSHH requirements and manufacturer instructions.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with residents, property managers, housing associations, landlords, and visitors.
Experience
- Previous experience within residential cleaning, communal area cleaning, HMO cleaning, housekeeping, or janitorial services is desirable but not essential, as full training can be provided.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods for residential blocks, apartment buildings, HMOs, and domestic properties is advantageous.
- Experience using cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, polishers, steam cleaners, and pressure washers is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads efficiently while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of hygiene standards, infection control, and safe cleaning practices.
- Ability to follow written instructions, risk assessments, and health and safety procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering consistently high cleaning standards.
- Good communication skills and a professional, courteous approach when dealing with residents and clients.
- Physical fitness to undertake manual handling, prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the working day.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable for mobile cleaning operatives but not essential.
