Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Digger Operator to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating excavators and other heavy machinery to assist with various earthmoving tasks on-site. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work safely in a dynamic environment. Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery with precision and safety awareness
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, and grading activities as directed
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and site protocols
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage
- Support logistical operations through commercial driving when required, including transporting materials or machinery around the site
Experience
- Proven experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery in a construction environment
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic maintenance
- Valid commercial driving licence is desirable for transporting equipment or materials between sites
- Familiarity with health and safety standards related to heavy machinery operation
- Prior experience working on large-scale construction projects is advantageous but not essential
