Role: SHEQ & Compliance Advisor

Salary: Between £50k-£70k DOE + £600 Car Allowance

Overview
Green Engineering Ltd are a NERS-accredited Engineering Consultancy and Developer of renewable Energy Infrastructure projects from LV up to 400kV. As part of the business's strategic business plans and growth into the installation sector, we are looking for an experienced SHEQ & Compliance advisor. The SHEQ & Compliance advisor is someone who works on electrical infrastructure projects on behalf of the Company to deliver all elements below on both grid connection and Private/Balance of Plant Projects ranging from LV through to 400kV.
Responsibilities
- Understand the requirements of key legislation, notably CDM Regulations
- Championing the SHEQ cause on site including the management of any HSE initiatives and promoting a positive HSE culture
- Providing competent advice to the project team
- Aim to deliver Safety KPIs, e.g. number of safety observations across the site delivery team, Safety Audits etc
- Co-ordinate any development and updates to key SHEQ documentation such as the construction phase plans and environmental management plans, traffic management plans as required
- Completion of risk assessment and method statements where applicable
- The development of safe systems of work and support with Induction
- The investigation of incidents, determining root cause and corrective actions
- The review of contractor risk assessments and method statements for suitability
- Ensuring that tools and equipment brought onto site have the necessary documentation such as certificates of thorough examination
- Management of training and competency records
- The delivery of the site-specific induction
- Compliance , audit and improvement of the businesses management system
- Assist the Site-based PM and Site Manager in reporting weekly SHEQ results.
- Completion and co-ordination of site audits to monitor the SHEQ performance of contractors and the arrangement of the site, raising actions and tracking the status until closure ensuring that appropriate evidence has been provided.
- Compile key performance indicator data for submission including the monitoring of trends
- Co-ordination with 3rd party audit bodies to maintain accreditation i.e NERS, Achilees, Lloyds Register e.t.c
- Support in Pre Qualification Questionaires for suppliers and client on boarding process.
- Act as the assessing officer in compliance with NERS requirements, and maintaince of all NERS passports auhtorisation.
- Champion digitalisation of Quality management system and close collaboration with Information Technology departments.
- GAP Analysis of management system and contionous improvement in yearly SHEQ objectives i.e ISO 27001, or other utility standards integration.
- Innovation of SHEQ process to be an industry leader
- Attend forums and Networking as required for new business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements for Government and project contracts
- Yearly review and improvement of existing and new business procedures.
- Internal Audit and reporting of all business internal processes, to champion quality
Essential criteria:
- Knowledge of legislative requirements and best practice, specifically, CDM regulations, working at height and electricity at work
- Substation Experience
- Previous experience in the construction industry (preferably in the utilities sector)
- NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent
- Tech IOSH
- Highly organised with an ability to prioritise
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to effectively problem solve and think outside the box
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport with ease
- Professional demeanour and presentation
- Self-motivated, driven and goal orientated
- Proactive nature and initiative-taking approach to work tasks
- Willingness to develop and learn new skills
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel)
- Excellent attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Team player attitude
- Clean UK driving licence
Desirable Criteria
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to produce complex reports
- Critical thinking to help drive continual improvement
- Experience in Waste to Energy Electrical Installations
