Private Housekeeper
Overview
We are looking for an experienced, professional and trustworthy Housekeeper to join our family home. This is a long-term, self-employed position for someone who takes genuine pride in maintaining an exceptionally clean, organised and welcoming home.
The role is 20 hours per week, working Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings.
The successful applicant will be reliable, proactive and able to work independently to a consistently high standard. As this is a family home with young children and pets, we are looking for someone who is warm, approachable and comfortable working around both, whilst always maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Discretion, integrity and respect for our family’s privacy are essential. We are seeking someone who understands the importance of confidentiality and is committed to treating our home with the same care and attention they would their own.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the home to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and presentation throughout.
- Clean and care for all living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen.
- Manage laundry, ironing and wardrobe organisation.
- Change bed linen and ensure towels and household linens are fresh and well presented.
- Keep household cupboards, storage areas and utility spaces organised.
- Monitor cleaning products and household supplies, advising when replacements are required.
- Care for high-quality furnishings, fixtures and household equipment using appropriate cleaning methods.
- Assist with general household organisation and seasonal deep cleaning.
- Work around the family’s daily routine with flexibility and minimal disruption.
- Be comfortable working in a home with young children and family pets.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all aspects of the household and family life.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a private housekeeper or in a high-quality housekeeping, hospitality or domestic cleaning role.
- Excellent attention to detail with exceptionally high cleaning standards.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Professional, reliable and punctual.
- Friendly, personable and comfortable around children and animals.
- Honest, trustworthy and respectful of privacy at all times.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as the property is in a rural location.
- Excellent references from previous employers.
Safeguarding
As this role is based within a family home where children are present, the successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check before employment commences. Any offer of work will be subject to satisfactory references and the successful completion of all pre-engagement checks.
