Mechanical Design Engineer - Graduate

About the Role

TBG Solutions are seeking a seeking a motivated, creative, and ambitious Graduate Engineer. Recent graduates or those with up to 1 year of placement/internship experience are encouraged to apply to join our growing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career, working on real-world projects and contributing to innovative engineering solutions.

TBG Solutions provide test, measurement and control solutions for customers across a wide range of technical industries. With over 25 years of experience, we design and deliver bespoke hardware and software systems that help organisations test, monitor and control critical processes.

Our work ranges from simple mechanical interfaces to complex integrated engineering systems, we pride ourselves on delivering practical, high-quality solutions that meet real-world engineering challenges.

You’ll be involved in the full project lifecycle—from concept and design through to testing and implementation—while developing your technical and professional skills within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design, development, and optimisation of engineering solutions
Design and develop 3D models, concepts and supporting data
Produce technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and project management
Assist with problem-solving and root cause analysis
Participate in testing, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety, and quality requirements
Generate creative design work that integrates with Electronics, Electrical and Software requirements.

About You

Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Manufacturing / Design or similar)
Strong and creative problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
Familiarity with CAD tools – ideally Solidworks although strong candidates with relevant CAD skills will be considered.
Good understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes
Effective communication and teamwork skills
A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and develop
Ability to commute on a regular basis to our Barlborough site
Someone who is looking to grow their skills, learn and adapt and expand their skillset.

Desirable Skills

Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment
Knowledge of industry standards (BS8888 & GD&T) and compliance requirements
Exposure to project work and structured engineering processes
Understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement techniques
