Stranraer

£13.45 per hour

Permanent, Part-Time

3.25 hours per week

About me

I am a 10-year-old boy. I enjoy going to the park, swimming, baking, and going for drives in the car. I particularly love numbers and can do maths well beyond my age. I enjoy using a calculator. I like taking part in baking, especially weighing ingredients, getting involved and decorating cakes. I enjoy listening to the radio and music at home. I also enjoy activities that are typically aimed at younger children. I need someone who understands this and can support me in a kind, patient and gentle way.

Job Role

I need support to stay safe when I am out and about, as I have no sense of danger.

I need help at road crossings and in car parks.

I would like support to enjoy the activities that make me happy

I need support with opening and closing doors safely.

I am able to communicate what I want, but I am minimally verbal. I may find it difficult to explain what is wrong when I am dysregulated.

At times, I may bite my arms or hands. This does not break the skin and can happen for different reasons, not always because something negative has happened.

About you

You should be patient, understanding, calm, and able to work well with children.

You should understand that someone with autism may need extra time to process information.

A quietly spoken and gentle approach would be best.

You should be able to follow my lead.

You should support my interests and help me take part in activities I enjoy.

You should help keep me safe.

Experience of autism would be helpful.

The most important thing is being kind, reliable, and willing to get to know me as an individual.

Hours & Pay

3.25 hours per week.

£13.45 per hour

An additional 5 hours per week during school holiday periods.

Holiday support includes spring, summer, October and Christmas holidays.

5.6 weeks holiday pro rata

A suitable PVG is required
