Accounts Assistant
Location: Inverness (Hybrid Working)

We're looking for an experienced and organised Accounts Assistant to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role, combining home working with office-based work in Inverness as required.
The Role
You'll be responsible for supporting a portfolio of clients with their day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration. This is a hands-on position requiring someone who can work independently, manage multiple deadlines and maintain excellent attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase and sales invoices
- Bank reconciliations
- Credit card and expense reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records
- Processing supplier payments
- Assisting with payroll administration (desirable)
- Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and resolve queries
- Maintaining digital records and ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes
- General finance and administrative duties
Essential Requirements
- Previous hands-on bookkeeping or accounts experience is essential
- Strong working knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks Online
- Confident completing bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Professional and confident communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail and Drive)
Desirable Skills & Experience
- AAT qualification (or currently studying towards one)
- Payroll experience
- Experience working within an accountancy practice or bookkeeping business
- Knowledge of Dext, Hubdoc or similar document capture software
