Job description

As our fleet continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to help maintain our vehicles and trailers to the highest standards. Whether you are currently working on HGVs or are an experienced vehicle technician looking to move into commercial vehicles, we'd love to hear from you.

We are seeking a skilled fitter/mechanic, ideally with experience in inspection and repair of fleet vehicles and trailers to play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our fleet. Your primary responsibilities will include diagnosing, repairing, component replacement and maintaining trailers and HGVs to the highest industry standards.

Shifts: dayshift (hours flexible), every second Saturday on rotation. Other shifts available

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing our fleet of HGVs, trailers and tanker equipment, ensuring maximum vehicle reliability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance
Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults
Perform MOT preparation and repair defects
Conduct vehicle and trailer inspections to DVSA standards
Attend breakdowns and emergency repairs when necessary
Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately
Work closely with transport and operations teams to minimise downtime
Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
Contribute to a positive, supportive and team-focused working environment

What We're Looking For

Essential

Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or similar
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety standards
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Full UK Driving Licence
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Have a can-do attitude
Flexibility around shift patterns and the needs of the operation

Desirable

HGV Licence (Class 1 or Class 2)
Experience with Volvo commercial vehicles
Experience of tanker and ADR products
Welding and fabrication experience
