Locations: Herriot Hospice, Thirsk
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (24 hours shift pattern, 5 over 7 including nights and weekends)
Salary: £30,741.35 per annum FTE, rising to £32,556.15 per annum FTE (45% of hours need to be in unsocial hours)

About the role

We’re currently seeking a dedicated Nursing Associate to work at our inpatient unit in Thirsk. This rewarding role gives you the opportunity to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to individuals living with life-limiting illnesses. You'll become part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team providing holistic care in our Inpatient Unit setting.
Your role as a Nursing Associate
As a Nursing Associate, you'll work closely with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, effective, and dignified care. Your role will involve:
- Supporting patients with a wide range of physical, emotional, and psychological needs to enhance comfort and quality of life.
- Delivering care in our inpatient unit, assisting with personal care, symptom management, daily routines, and emotional support in a calm and supportive environment.
- Providing assistance with complex symptoms, medication, nutrition, personal care, and activities of daily living, in accordance with individual care plans.
- Contributing to overall care planning and documentation.
- Communicating openly and compassionately with patients, families, and team members, always promoting dignity, respect, and emotional well-being.
What We’re Looking For:
- Registered Nursing Associate with current NMC registration
- Experience in a healthcare setting, ideally within palliative care, a specialist ward, or complex community services
- An insight into and a passion for palliative care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a professional approach
- A caring, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
