Location: Remote / Flexible – Scotland
Position: Registered Care Manager
Hours: Full-time / Part-time considered
Salary: Competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience
About JenCare
JenCare Caithness Ltd is a growing, independent home care provider committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care within people’s own homes.
We believe that everyone receiving care deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and kindness, while receiving support that is tailored to their individual needs and wishes. Our aim is to help people remain safely and independently at home for as long as possible, while providing reassurance to families and maintaining the highest professional standards.
As JenCare continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified Registered Care Manager to become an important part of our management team.
This is a key role within the organisation and would suit someone who is passionate about care, understands the responsibilities of registered care management and is committed to maintaining and improving standards.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strong professional leadership and effective management oversight of our home care service.
The position can be predominantly remote, providing the successful candidate has the ability to maintain effective communication, governance and oversight of the service and is able to attend in person when required.
Remote working does not reduce the responsibilities of the Registered Manager. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate that appropriate local oversight, escalation, emergency response, staff support, quality assurance and occasional physical presence or spot checks can be maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership and professional oversight of the home care service.
- Ensure JenCare operates in accordance with Scottish Care Inspectorate requirements, Health and Social Care Standards and relevant legislation and guidance.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Care Inspectorate expectations and be confident in applying them in day-to-day practice.
- Ensure policies and procedures are implemented effectively throughout the organisation.
- Monitor quality, safety and outcomes for people receiving care.
- Oversee audits, quality assurance systems and continuous improvement.
- Ensure staff supervision, competency assessments, training and development are appropriately managed and recorded.
- Monitor and review incidents, accidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and other significant events.
- Ensure appropriate notifications and reporting are made to the Care Inspectorate when required.
- Maintain accurate and robust care documentation and management records.
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of staff.
- Provide professional guidance and support to staff members.
- Ensure appropriate escalation and emergency arrangements are in place.
- Carry out or arrange appropriate spot checks and quality monitoring.
- Work closely with clients, families, staff and other professionals.
- Promote a culture of openness, honesty, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the service consistently provides safe, effective, compassionate and person-centred care.
Essential Qualifications & Registration
The successful applicant must have:
- Relevant management and leadership qualifications appropriate to the Registered Manager role, including the required SCQF Level 7/9 qualification or equivalent, as applicable to the service and role.
- Current and appropriate SSSC registration as a manager, or eligibility to maintain registration in accordance with SSSC requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in a care management or senior care leadership position.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Scottish Care Inspectorate requirements and guidance.
- A strong understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards and their practical application.
- Experience of quality assurance, audits, supervision and governance.
- Experience managing incidents, complaints and safeguarding matters.
- Excellent understanding of person-centred care and professional accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the wider JenCare team.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is much more than a manager.
You will be a compassionate, professional, approachable and accountable leader who genuinely cares about the people receiving our services and the staff delivering them.
You must be:
Compassionate | Reliable | Professional | Organised | Accountable | Honest | Approachable | Experienced | Motivated
You should have the confidence to challenge poor practice, support staff appropriately, identify areas for improvement and ensure that high standards are maintained consistently.
You must understand that working within care is built on trust, integrity, safeguarding and professional responsibility.
Remote Working
JenCare is open to a remote or predominantly remote management arrangement for the right candidate.
However, the successful applicant must understand that a remote Registered Manager must still provide effective management oversight of a physical care service.
This includes ensuring:
- Local escalation arrangements are robust.
- Emergency situations can be responded to appropriately.
- Staff have access to management support.
- Quality assurance and audits are completed.
- Spot checks and visits are undertaken where required.
- Clients and families have appropriate access to management.
- The service remains compliant and responsive.
- Care Inspectorate expectations can be demonstrated through evidence and records.
The successful candidate must therefore be willing and able to attend the service, clients, staff or meetings in person when reasonably required.
