We operate a 5-day week – Monday to Friday, 7.30pm - 4.30pm, with no weekend or bank holiday working.

Job Summary
Due to the current post holder retiring, we are seeking a proactive and energetic Yard Operative to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing materials handling, operating equipment such as forklifts, and maintaining the smooth flow of goods in and out of our yard. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help ensure safe, efficient operations that meet the demands of our busy civil engineering supply environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery to load, unload, and transport materials within the yard
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and handling of goods
- Load and unload delivery trucks efficiently while adhering to safety protocols
- Manage materials handling processes using warehouse management systems to track inventory movements
- Conduct regular inspections of yard equipment and materials, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Support warehouse organisation by maintaining tidy storage areas and proper stacking of materials
- Assist in mechanical tasks or minor repairs as needed to support yard operations
- Conduct stock taking, following the company schedule
- Basic Ground maintenance of the property
Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse operations or construction environments with heavy lifting involved advantageous
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating forklift machinery safely
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with construction materials is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the workday
Although experience working in a yard setting and driving forklifts is desirable, it is not essential, as full training will be given to the right candidate.

Pay: £26,436.80-£28,000.00 per year
