Senior Building Surveyor
This full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.
The starting salary will be from £50,253 to £58,225 on Grade G, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some from home.
This post offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to build upon existing building surveying skills, taking responsibility for the project management of major capital funded Long Term Maintenance building projects with a value from £250k to £5m; the design, costing, financial control, administration and supervision of minor revenue works and maintenance projects, with individual values up to £1m; survey work and other general building surveying and estate management duties. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to take an active role in strategic planning of workload and the Long Term Maintenance programme, in conjunction with the Assistant Director of the Built Environment.
About You
- Minimum qualification to degree level in building surveying or other related construction subject. Hold a relevant professional qualification (MRICS or MCIOB).
- Significant and demonstrable recent experience supervising building surveying or other building-related technical staff.
- Recent experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and working effectively leading and participating as a member of multi-disciplinary teams.
- A collaborative personality, with excellent negotiating skills. The post holder is expected to exercise judgement and confidentiality, be pro-active and have the necessary confidence to interact appropriately with a wide range of people, both internal and external, at all levels.
- The ability to take on a wide range of responsibilities and to work to tight deadlines is essential.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing, production of business cases, presentational material.
- Good working knowledge of the Building Regulations, relevant statutory legislation and codes of practice, CDM regulations, JCT and other standard forms of contract; relevant health and safety legislation and practice.
- Flexible attitude and able to work on own initiative.
- Good computer skills (experience in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project).
