As a Material Controller you will play a vital role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of raw materials required for the manufacture of Life Science products. Reporting to the Supply Chain Leader, you will manage inventory levels, purchasing activities, supplier coordination, and SAP data accuracy to support production requirements and business objectives.
This position offers the opportunity to work across supply chain, procurement, finance, quality, and production functions while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and helping shape the future development of the role. You will have a direct impact on inventory performance, supplier reliability, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage inventory levels for raw materials, ensuring availability to support production plans while maintaining agreed stock parameters.

Convert material requirements planning (MRP) outputs into purchase orders and oversee the procurement process within SAP.

Track supplier performance and purchase orders to ensure materials are delivered on time and at the agreed cost.

Maintain purchasing master data within SAP, including pricing, sourcing information, material listings, and stocking rules.

Monitor inventory metrics including stock levels, inventory turns, inventory value, stock shortages, and safety stock performance.

Work closely with planning teams to align future demand with purchasing and supply requirements.

Support supplier-related activities, including supply issues, quality concerns, material changes, and the introduction of new materials.

Provide analysis, reporting, budgeting support, and assistance with invoice queries while contributing to cost improvement initiatives and supply chain projects.
Preferred Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in supply chain, materials planning, inventory control, procurement, or a related manufacturing environment.

Degree, diploma, or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline.

Working knowledge of SAP or a similar enterprise resource planning system.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory, purchasing, and operational data.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving, with a focus on delivering accurate and reliable results.

The Salary Range Information for the role: £30,000 - £32,000 + full benefits package
