The Vacancy
Are you an experienced facilities professional with a strong background in healthcare estates and compliance? Do you have the expertise to ensure buildings, infrastructure, and essential services are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose? Then this role could be for you!
Your new role!
At Hospice in the Weald, we are committed to providing outstanding care for people facing life-limiting illness and supporting their families. Ensuring our buildings and facilities are safe, compliant, and effectively maintained is essential to the delivery of this care.
We are looking for an experienced and highly competent Hard Facilities Management (Hard FM) Manager to lead the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of hard FM services across our healthcare and retail estate.
Based at our main site in Pembury, you will oversee hard FM services across two principal operational sites and 29 retail locations, with occasional travel to our inpatient site at Five Ashes and our retail stores. A minibus service operates between our two main sites.
You will lead a small in-house team of maintenance operatives, alongside specialist contractors and service providers, ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance, statutory inspections, and compliance activities are delivered to the highest operational and regulatory standards.
The role will have a particular focus on healthcare estates compliance, including Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), Health Building Notes (HBNs), fire safety, water safety, statutory compliance, and building infrastructure.
You will also play a key role in managing our retail estate, supporting managers with facilities-related issues and ensuring consistent compliance and maintenance standards across all locations.
To succeed in this role
We are seeking an experienced Hard FM or Estates Management professional with a strong background in healthcare or another highly regulated environment.
You will have a thorough understanding of healthcare estates compliance, including HTMs and HBNs, and experience managing fire safety, water safety, M&E systems, statutory inspections, and planned preventative maintenance.
You will also have experience managing contractors and maintenance teams, with the ability to monitor performance, manage risks, and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standards.
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, hands-on, and confident managing multiple sites and competing priorities. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues, contractors, suppliers, and senior stakeholders across the organisation.
Experience of CAFM systems and Microsoft Office is required. An IWFM qualification or equivalent, HNC/HND or degree in Building Services, Engineering or Facilities Management, and relevant health and safety qualifications would be desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity for a facilities professional who wants to make a real difference, ensuring our estate supports the delivery of high-quality care while contributing to the continued development of our facilities and services.
