About the role

As Attendance Support Officer, you'll work closely with students, families, staff and external agencies to improve attendance and engagement.

You'll play a vital role in identifying attendance concerns, supporting families, conducting home visits, analysing attendance data and helping ensure every student has the best possible chance to succeed.

This is a varied and rewarding position that combines administration, data analysis, family support and student advocacy.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the Education Welfare Officer with attendance monitoring and intervention.
Liaising with parents and carers regarding attendance concerns.
Conducting home visits and attendance-related meetings.
Producing and analysing attendance reports and data.
Working collaboratively with staff and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance.
Supporting students to engage positively with school life.

We're looking for someone who:

Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Can build positive relationships with students, families and professionals.
Is organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities.
Has good ICT and administrative skills.
Is committed to improving outcomes for young people.
Can work both independently and as part of a team.
Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle, as regular travel is required as part of the role.

Essential Qualifications

GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.

Desirable

At least six months' relevant experience.
Experience working with young people and families.
Knowledge of school attendance processes and systems such as Bromcom.

Role details:

Hours: 37 per week (Mon–Thurs 8:15am–4:15pm and Fri 8:15am-3:45pm)
Weeks: 39 weeks + 5.6 weeks paid holiday
Salary: £24,080 to £ 26,528 (FTE: £28,153 to £31,015)
Start: 1st September 2026
Closing date: 9am Monday 3rd August 2026

Interview date: Monday 10th August 2026
