As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable and organised Goods In & Stock Controller to support our warehouse and operations team, helping ensure incoming deliveries are checked accurately and stock is stored safely and efficiently.
THE ROLE
This is a practical, hands-on, site-based role responsible for receiving, checking, recording, organising, storing and moving goods within the warehouse. You will help ensure deliveries are accurately inspected and placed in the correct locations, while supporting effective stock control and the smooth flow of materials through the business.
This role would suit someone who is organised, detail-focused and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. A positive attitude, good communication and a strong awareness of health and safety are important. Training will be provided where required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive deliveries and check goods against purchase orders, delivery notes and other relevant paperwork
- Inspect incoming goods for damage, shortages, incorrect items or quality issues and report discrepancies promptly
- Record goods-in activity accurately using company systems, logs, checklists or stock control documents
- Label, organise and store stock in the correct warehouse locations to support efficient picking and movement
- Maintain logical stock rotation and ensure stock is stored safely, securely and accessibly
- Carry out regular stock checks and support inventory control processes
- Move materials, components and finished goods around the warehouse, production or despatch areas as required
- Use forklifts, pallet trucks or other mechanical handling equipment safely and responsibly where trained and authorised
- Keep the warehouse clean, organised and free from hazards, following good housekeeping standards
- Support picking, packing, despatch and general warehouse duties when required
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling and correct use of equipment
- Communicate effectively with purchasing, production, despatch, quality and management teams, escalating stock, delivery, quality or safety issues promptly
- Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the role and business needs
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when checking goods and paperwork
- Good organisational skills and the ability to keep stock areas structured and tidy
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Good communication skills with colleagues, drivers and supervisors
- Able to follow processes, checklists and written instructions
- Practical, hands-on approach with a positive attitude to warehouse work
- Able to prioritise tasks in a busy working environment
- Good awareness of health and safety requirements
- Basic computer literacy or willingness to use stock control systems
- Able to work autonomously and use initiative while following established procedures and safety requirements
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Previous warehouse, goods-in, stores, stock control or logistics experience
- Experience checking deliveries, managing stock locations or using warehouse paperwork
- Forklift truck licence or pallet truck experience
- Manual handling training
- Experience using stock control or inventory systems
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths for record keeping and stock accuracy
