Scampston Estate (near Malton) and Lowthorpe & Harpham Estate (near Driffield) represent a diverse rural business comprising interests in agriculture, horticulture, tourism, property management, arboriculture, and field sports.
The main aspect of your role will include the day-to-day maintenance of the Estate’s property portfolio at Scampston including Scampston Hall, around 40 tenanted cottages & farmhouses, farm buildings, Conservatory, Café and Walled Gardens.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hard-working Maintenance Assistant to join Scampston Estate. The successful candidate will support the Maintenance Person in the upkeep and development of the Estate and its buildings, helping to provide a high-quality and efficient maintenance service.
This role would suit someone who is keen to learn and develop practical skills, with some previous experience desirable but not essential. You will work alongside the Maintenance Person and wider Estate team, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of tasks.
Your responsibilities
- Assisting with planned and reactive maintenance across the Estate.
- Supporting general repair and maintenance tasks including painting, basic plumbing, joinery, and general upkeep.
- Helping to carry out routine maintenance checks to ensure properties are well maintained.
- Working alongside the Maintenance Person and Estate Management team to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
- Always maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Assisting in ensuring safe working practices are followed, including use of risk assessments and method statements.
Skills & Experience
The applicant must have the following attributes:
- Some practical or hands-on experience (maintenance, construction, or similar desirable).
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills
- A strong work ethic and a positive, “can-do” attitude.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and personable manner.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and pride in their work.
- Proactive and reliable approach to tasks.
Working hours
Your usual working hours will be Monday to Thursday: 8:30am-4:30pm and Friday 8:30am-4:00pm.
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Driving license required.
Salary: £13 per hour.
