We are seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate midwife to join our community services team as a community team lead.
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring leader who is passionate about promoting excellence in midwifery practice, supporting and developing staff, and driving continuous improvement within community maternity services.
You will play a key role in ensuring women, birthing people and families receive safe, personalised and evidence-based care throughout their maternity journey.
As a community team lead, you will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to midwives, maternity support workers and students, promoting excellence in practice and supporting staff development.
You will work closely with the maternity leadership team and multidisciplinary colleagues to drive quality improvement, clinical governance and service development across community maternity services.
This role requires flexibility, the ability to travel between community hubs and sites, and a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of the community midwifery team.
- Support and develop community midwives, maternity support workers and students.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Manage staffing, caseload allocation and workforce planning.
- Monitor performance, quality and patient experience within the service.
- Lead on quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives.
- Promote effective multidisciplinary and cross-agency working.
- Contribute to the investigation and management of incidents, complaints and learning events to support a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Act as a professional role model and advocate for women, birthing people, families and staff.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a registered midwife.
- Significant post-registration clinical experience, including substantial experience within community midwifery.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and decision-making skills.
- Experience of multidisciplinary working and building effective professional relationships.
- Experience in service improvement, clinical governance and quality assurance activities.
- A commitment to delivering compassionate, inclusive and equitable maternity care.
- The ability to inspire, motivate and develop others to achieve high standards of care.
