The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Composite Trimmer to assist the team building a new mould-making and component manufacturing operation supplying Formula 1 and top-tier motorsport clients. We're looking for a Composite Trimmers to join the team as we bring this facility online.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision-trimming cured carbon components using trimlines, templates and Jigs, die-grinders, and diamond wheels to tight tolerances (±0.1mm).
- Drilling, countersinking, and reaming fastener holes to specification.
- Bonding assemblies using structural adhesives (e.g. Hysol 9394, Araldite 2011, 3M DP490).
- Fitting inserts, brackets, hinges, and mechanisms using torque-controlled tools
- Surface-finishing Class-A visual carbon components (180–2000 grit micro-mesh polish).
- Working from engineering drawings, build manuals, and route cards — checking instructions are clear and correct before starting work.
- Performing visual and structural checks, identifying and flagging defects.
- Completing QA documentation, work orders, cure-cycle logs, and sign-off for every part.
- Keeping tools and equipment maintained.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Contributing ideas to improve process quality and efficiency
Essential Requirements:
- Experience trimming and assembling pre-preg carbon in F1, motorsport, or aerospace
- Certified in structural adhesive systems (e.g. Loctite/Huntsman), or willing to complete training
- Ability to read engineering drawings an advantage but not essential — full training provided
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable in full PPE for extended shifts
- Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available for this role)
- Calm under pressure, able to work to tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Good communicator, able to follow instructions and flag issues early
- Own safety boots; all other PPE and tools supplied
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team or under own initiative.
Shift Pattern:
- Rotating shifts, 06:00–14:30 / 12:00–20:30
