You'll be responsible for commercial management, contract administration, procurement, cost control, and maximising project performance, whilst building strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and operational teams.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value projects whilst continuing to develop your commercial expertise, leadership capability and professional qualifications.
What you'll be doing?
- Managing the commercial aspects of major infrastructure projects across North and East Scotland.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Procuring, managing and developing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Administering client and subcontractor contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Supporting accurate forecasting, cost management and reporting activities.
- Driving value for money whilst maintaining quality, safety and delivery objectives.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting compliance with Balfour Beatty's Gated Business Lifecycle and governance processes.
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the commercial team.
- Supporting continuous improvement and sharing best practice across the wider business.
Who we're looking for
- Degree qualified (BSc or MSc) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within the construction, utilities, infrastructure or engineering sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing costs, contracts and project performance.
- Experience working under NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Membership of RICS, ICES, CIOB or working towards professional accreditation.
- Experience working on large civil engineering, power, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience mentoring or developing junior team members.
