Accrington Stanley Community Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate Football Coach to join our Education Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within our successful Football College and Youth Team programme, delivering high-quality coaching to aspiring footballers aged 16–19.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning and delivery of practical coaching sessions across our BTEC Sport programme, lead one of our Football College teams on matchdays, and support the Head of Youth Football with the development and delivery of our full-time Youth Team.
The successful applicant will be committed to creating an enjoyable, challenging and professional learning environment that develops players both on and off the pitch.
A typical working week would look like:
Monday – 10am-2pm
Tuesday – 10am-2pm
Wednesday – Matchday (Times and Venues TBC)
Friday – 10am-2pm
BTEC Football Programme
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging practical football coaching sessions for students.
- Deliver sessions that support learners in achieving course enrichment outcomes while developing technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of performance.
- Differentiate coaching to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and experience.
- Contribute to the assessment of learners' practical performance where appropriate.
- Work alongside teaching staff to ensure learners receive a high-quality educational experience.
Football College Team
- Manage and coach one of the Football College representative teams.
- Plan and deliver weekly training sessions.
- Lead the team on matchdays, including squad selection, tactical preparation and post-match review.
- Monitor player development and provide regular feedback.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, professionalism and attendance.
Youth Team
- Assist the Head of Youth Football in planning and delivering training sessions for the Youth Team scholarship programme.
- Support player development in line with the club's coaching philosophy.
- Assist during Youth Team fixtures where required.
General Responsibilities
- Promote the values and standards of Accrington Stanley Community Trust.
- Ensure all coaching sessions are planned, safe, inclusive and engaging.
- Complete relevant administration including session plans, registers and player reports.
- Attend departmental meetings, CPD opportunities and staff training.
- Maintain accurate records in line with awarding body and Trust requirements.
- Work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends, to support fixtures, tournaments and recruitment events.
- Ensure safeguarding, health & safety and equality policies are followed at all times.
- Represent the Trust professionally within schools, leagues and external partner organisations.
Essential:
- Minimum UEFA B in Football Coaching
- In date child protection certificate (or willingness to update ASAP).
- Full UK Driving Licence – Car owner and willingness to use for work.
- The ability to form and maintain positive and professional relationships with 16–19-year-olds students
- Expect and uphold the highest standards in order to inspire students to work at target grade or higher
Desirable
- Experience working within an Academy, Scholarship or Further Education Football Programme.
- Experience coaching within EFL or National League environments.
- Knowledge of BTEC Sport delivery and assessment.
