Job Summary
Moons Glasgow Central is looking for an experienced, friendly, reliable, and hardworking Front Counter Staff Member to join our team.
As the first point of contact for our customers, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our busy takeaway and restaurant. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and teamwork.
Previous experience working at a takeaway or restaurant front counter is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Answer customer enquiries and provide menu recommendations.
- Handle telephone orders and customer calls professionally.
- Resolve customer concerns politely and escalate issues when necessary.
Till & POS Operations
- Operate the POS/till system confidently and accurately.
- Process cash and card payments.
- Balance transactions and follow cash handling procedures.
- Ensure all orders are entered correctly into the system.
Online Delivery Management
- Monitor and manage Uber Eats and other online delivery platform orders.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of delivery orders.
- Maintain efficient service flow during busy periods.
Food & Beverage Preparation
- Prepare mocktails, milkshakes, and other drinks according to company standards.
- Ensure presentation and quality standards are maintained.
Stock Management
- Monitor front counter stock levels, packaging materials, drinks, and other supplies.
- Inform management in advance when stock is running low.
- Prepare stock order requests to ensure supplies never run out.
- Receive and organise deliveries where required.
Cleaning & Hygiene
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout your shift by:
- Cleaning customer tables regularly.
- Keeping the front counter and till area clean and organised.
- Cleaning customer toilets every 2 hours and recording cleaning checks where required.
- Maintaining cleanliness of customer-facing areas.
- Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
Teamwork
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
- Support colleagues during busy periods.
- Help create a positive, professional working environment.
Essential Requirements (Must Have)
Applicants must have:
- Previous experience working as Front Counter Staff in a takeaway, fast food restaurant, or restaurant.
- Experience operating a POS/till system.
- Experience handling cash and card payments.
- Experience answering customer phone calls and taking telephone orders.
- Experience managing Uber Eats or other online delivery platforms.
- Experience preparing mocktails and milkshakes.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A positive, professional, and reliable attitude.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work full-time shifts of at least 8 hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays where required.
Preferred Skills
- Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of restaurant or takeaway operations.
- Previous experience in stock management and inventory control.
