We are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic individuals to join our Refuse Staff Bank pool as a Refure Loader.
Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long-term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long-term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.
As a Refuse Loader you will:

Provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of the residents and community in Northumberland.

Ensure that general waste and recycling is collected as per schedule and streets, homes and businesses are kept clean, safe and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to all members of the community that we serve.

Work 4 days a week
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you are...
- Hardworking and physically fit and healthy due to the nature of the business
You will have the relevant knowledge of the range of tasks, together with the operation of associated tools and equipment and an appreciation and interest in the need for the service.
You will have the strength, dexterity and co-ordination to manoeuvre bins and operate hydraulics and the specialist skills associated with the operation of hydraulic equipment.
- Willing to go the extra mile whilst on your rounds and hold plenty of enthusiasm and a big smile
You must be able to cope with the regular high level of physical demand and have the ability to maintain general awareness to ensure safe working conditions.
You will be a front-line member of staff representing Northumberland County Council. You will have responsibility to keep the area remaining beautiful, safe and a clean place to live and work, a responsibility we take great pride in.
You will work as part of the wider refuse collection team.
You will be able to turn up for work on time, ready for the day ahead.
