We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Brick Mason to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and restoring structures made of brick, stone, and other masonry materials. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise specialised skills in masonry while contributing to high-quality building projects. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and craftsmanship.
Duties
- Lay bricks, stones, concrete blocks, and other masonry units according to specifications and blueprints
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, chiselling, and setting out work areas
- Use hand tools such as trowels, chisels, levels, and hammers to execute precise masonry work
- Operate power tools including saws, drills, and mixers safely and effectively
- Mix mortar or grout to appropriate consistency for different projects
- Assist with carpentry tasks related to masonry structures when required
- Perform repairs on existing brickwork or stonework as needed
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople such as roofers and welders to ensure seamless project execution
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment adhering to health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bricklaying or masonry work is essential
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised masonry equipment
- Knowledge of bricklaying techniques, mortar mixing, and structural principles of masonry construction
- Experience with carpentry, roofing, or welding is advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Commitment to safety procedures and standards on-site
- Physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
