Barista & Food Preparation Role

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and efficient team member to join our business in a combined Barista and Food Preparation role. This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, preparing fresh food, serving quality beverages, and supporting the smooth running of daily operations.

The role will involve a combination of food preparation duties and working on the shop floor as a Barista, depending on business needs. You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service while ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.

Previous experience as a Barista or in food preparation is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Hours & Shift Pattern

Between 30 - 40 hours per week.
Early starts from 6:00 am.
Shifts will vary between food preparation duties and shop-floor Barista/customer service duties.
Shift patterns vary and include some weekend working.
Flexibility to work a range of shifts is required.

Job Overview

You will be responsible for preparing fresh food items, preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, serving customers from the deli counter, and maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming environment.

Some shifts will focus on food preparation, including preparing fresh products and supporting kitchen operations, while other shifts will involve working on the shop floor as a Barista, serving customers and ensuring a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks.
Prepare and assemble fresh food items, including sandwiches, salads, and deli products.
Work both in food preparation areas and on the shop floor as required.
Serve customers from the deli counter and assist with customer orders.
Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
Take customer orders accurately and operate the till, including cash handling.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all work areas.
Follow all food safety procedures and ensure food is prepared, stored, and presented correctly.
Restock supplies and rotate stock to maintain freshness and availability.
Assist with general food preparation and daily operational duties.
Work efficiently during busy periods to maintain smooth service and minimise customer waiting times.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Barista, Food Preparation Assistant, or similar role is desirable.
Knowledge of food safety and food handling practices.
Experience preparing coffee and/or fresh food products is an advantage.
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and positive attitude.
Basic maths skills for till operation and cash handling.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Flexible and able to work a variety of shift patterns, including weekends.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
