Sales Manager – Solar & Battery Storage

Job Summary

ACTISMART is a fast-growing, family-run solar and battery storage company based in the West Midlands.

We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to take full ownership of our sales department, lead our appointment setter and sales representatives, improve performance across the full sales pipeline and help us deliver our next stage of growth.

We are planning to grow the business by approximately 4x over the next 12 months, so this role requires more than someone who can simply manage an existing team. We need a commercially driven leader who can build structure, improve conversion, develop people, identify constraints and create a scalable sales operation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the sales team consistently hits appointment, order, revenue and gross-profit targets while reducing the Managing Director’s involvement in day-to-day sales management.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead, manage and develop the appointment setter and sales representatives

* Run daily sales meetings and weekly performance reviews

* Set clear individual and department targets

* Monitor appointments, surveys, show rates, close rates, orders, revenue and gross profit

* Manage the full sales pipeline through GoHighLevel

* Ensure every opportunity has accurate notes, a clear next action and a follow-up date

* Review calls, surveys and proposals to improve sales performance

* Coach the team on qualification, objection handling, presentation and closing

* Approve sales proposals within agreed pricing and margin boundaries

* Ensure quotes are issued accurately and followed up quickly

* Sweep stalled, cold and previously lost opportunities

* Improve appointment quality and survey show rates

* Identify constraints across key sales metrics and implement corrective action

* Produce accurate weekly forecasts and performance reports

* Recruit, onboard and train new salespeople as the department grows

* Improve scripts, processes, CRM usage and reporting

* Ensure clean and accurate handovers from sales to operations

* Hold underperforming team members accountable and implement improvement plans

* Work closely with marketing to improve lead quality and campaign performance

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must have:

* Proven experience leading and managing sales teams

* A strong record of hitting and exceeding sales targets

* Experience coaching salespeople and improving individual performance

* Experience managing sales pipelines and forecasting revenue

* Strong commercial awareness, including margin and gross-profit management

* Confidence holding people accountable and addressing underperformance

* Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills

* Experience working in a fast-growth business

* The ability to build structure and processes, not just maintain them

* A proactive, hands-on and results-driven management style

Essential Systems Experience

* OpenSolar experience

* GoHighLevel experience

Experience within solar, battery storage, renewables, home improvement or another high-ticket consultative sales environment would be highly advantageous.

What Success Looks Like

* The appointment setter and sales reps consistently hit target

* Survey show rates and close rates improve

* The pipeline remains accurate and fully controlled

* Revenue and gross-profit targets are achieved

* Fewer leads and quotes are lost through poor follow-up

* New sales staff are recruited and onboarded successfully

* The department can scale in line with our 4x growth plan

* The Managing Director is no longer required to manage the sales team day to day

This is a key leadership role with significant responsibility and the opportunity to help build one of the fastest-growing solar and battery storage businesses in the region.

Pay: £42,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
