Full job description

Bristol Ambulance (Part of EMED Group) have a fantastic opportunity for Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team based in Bristol (BS2).

An ACA is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.

You’ll drive patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, either working with a colleague or independently, so it is vital to hold a full UK manual driving licence and have a good degree of physical fitness for manual handling.

Shifts are 12 hours with start times starting anywhere between 06:00am - 19:00 on a 4 on/4 off rota.

Other duties include:

Assisting in the transportation of ‘end of life’ patients, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times
Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends
Responsible for lifting, securing and helping patients in and out of the Ambulance
Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospital’s or to family/friends at their homes.
Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical settings.
Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy

Do you have what it takes?

Full UK manual driving license (held for minimum 12 months if over 21, or 24 months if under 21)
Flexible to work shifts (12hrs - 4 on 4 off)
You have experience in Care (HCA, Support worker, etc) - advantageous
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team and independently
Physical fitness to assist patients with mobility needs
