Full job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a practical and mechanical mindset, and the ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting combustibility testing on powders, liquids, gases, and vapours across a wide range of industrial sectors, ensuring accurate data generation and high laboratory standards.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct combustibility testing of client samples (powders, liquids, gases, and vapours)
Sample booking and documentation
Sample preparation in accordance with laboratory procedures
Data analysis and interpretation
Technical report writing
Laboratory cleaning and maintenance of a safe working environment
Handling hazardous materials using appropriate PPE
Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration
Identifying technical issues and implementing practical solutions

Essential Skills & Experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to data production
Effective team player with good communication skills
High standards of cleanliness and organisation
Ability and willingness to adhere strictly to Health & Safety regulations
Mechanically minded with strong practical problem-solving skills
Physically capable of performing laboratory-based manual tasks

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

A Level or BSc (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline
Familiarity with ISO 17025, GLP, or other recognised quality standards
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment
Knowledge of mechanical systems with the ability to repair or replace components where required
