Salary: Lecturer Salary Scale, Pt 5 – Pt 16 £30,600 – £45,087 per annum, subject to a progression criteria*
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Teaching Hours: 864 per annum
Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays
Pension: Teachers’ Pension Scheme
- The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Lecturer to join our team and inspire the next generation of learners. This rewarding role involves delivering high-quality GCSE Mathematics teaching, supporting students to overcome barriers to achievement, and contributing to a culture of excellence in teaching, learning and assessment. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality GCSE Mathematics lessons that meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of learners, supporting achievement and progression.
- Assess, monitor and track learner progress, including planning assessment programmes, marking work to College standards, and maintaining accurate records and registers.
- Use diagnostic assessment and targeted interventions to identify learning needs, support student development, and raise achievement.
- Provide pastoral and tutorial support to students, promoting wellbeing, engagement, and positive learner outcomes.
- Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance, including team collaboration, professional development, inspection activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent).
- Eligibility to enrol on a teaching qualification (PGCE), where applicable.
Experience
- Experience teaching GCSE Mathematics in a school or Further Education setting.
- Experience delivering exam-based qualifications, with Functional Skills experience desirable.
- Experience supporting learner achievement and progression through effective teaching and assessment.
- Experience using learner progress data and assessment outcomes to inform teaching and interventions.
Skills & Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of GCSE Mathematics specifications and curriculum requirements.
- Current knowledge of Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and its impact on classroom practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and parents/carers.
- Strong classroom planning and teaching skills, including the effective use of Information Learning Technology (ILT) and teaching resources.
