Full job description

Spire Parkway Hospital have an exciting opportunity and looking for a dedicated Theatre Assistant to join our operating theatre team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a professional, supportive theatre environment within a leading private healthcare provider.

Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands offers a comprehensive range of private hospital services. Our hospital is rated Good by the CQC for all parts of the inspection except for Patient Care, which is rated Outstanding. The report states, “Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions. They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers.”

Our dedicated hospital team are passionate about excellent patient care and we offer a range of specialist treatments to patients across Birmingham, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. This includes diagnostic services, rehabilitation, cutting-edge surgical procedures and excellence in specialist fields like orthopaedics, women’s health and cancer care. We have 51 bedrooms and five operating theatres.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a key member of the theatre team, you will support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting Nurses and Consultants during surgical procedures
Assisting Scrub Nurses within the operating theatres
Providing patient support within the anaesthetic room
Transporting patients to and from the ward
Opening sterile packs and preparing clinical equipment
Preparing, checking, and handling instruments prior to procedures
Assisting with equipment ordering and stock control
Maintaining theatre cleanliness and supporting infection prevention and control

Who We’re Looking For

Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant within theatre settings (desirable)
NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (e.g. Care Certificate)
A caring, compassionate approach with excellent interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
