Job Introduction

We have two fantastic opportunities for passionate and motivated Registered Nurses / Children’s Nurses to join our Children in Care (CiC) Team across Lancashire.

This is a rewarding role where you’ll play a vital part in improving outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children and young people—ensuring their health needs are recognised, understood and met.

We have 2 part-time (30 hours per week) opportunities available.

This is a fixed-term role until 30th September 2026.

About the role

As a Children in Care Nurse, you’ll work within Lancashire Health Visiting and School Nursing services, delivering high-quality, child-centred care.

Your key focus will be to:

Undertake statutory health assessments for children aged 0–17
Identify health needs and ensure appropriate support plans are in place
Act as a health advocate for children and young people in care
Work collaboratively with social workers and multi-agency partners
Contribute to coordinated, holistic care planning

You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues and a Named Nurse, while also having the autonomy to use your initiative and clinical judgement.

What you’ll be doing

Delivering Review Health Assessments (RHA)
Coordinating care and maintaining comprehensive health plans
Liaising with professionals across health, social care and education
Promoting independence, wellbeing, and positive health outcomes
Managing and escalating any identified concerns appropriately

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

A Registered Nurse or Children’s Nurse
Experienced in a community or public health setting
Knowledgeable about child development and safeguarding
A strong communicator who can build effective partnerships
Confident using IT systems (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel)
Able to travel (full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required)
