Senior Automotive Technician / Peugeot Specialist
£38,000–£48,000 per annum DOE
Brackley, Northamptonshire | Full-Time | Permanent
Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm + alternate Saturday mornings, 9:00am–12:00pm
Fed Up With Just Servicing Cars and Changing Parts?
If you’re an experienced technician who actually enjoys challenging diagnostics, problem-solving, performance cars and getting to the bottom of complex faults, this could be the role for you.
We are Pug1Off, a well-established, family-run independent Peugeot specialist based in Brackley.
Peugeot is our speciality, but we’re far from being a standard service and repair garage.
Alongside everyday servicing and mechanical repairs, we undertake advanced diagnostics, engine & transmission rebuilds, performance upgrades, modifications and specialist projects, with our own in-house rolling road/dyno allowing us to diagnose, develop and test vehicles properly.
We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Automotive Technician who wants to become an important part of our team.
What You’ll Be Working On
No two weeks are exactly the same.
Your work will include a mixture of:
· Servicing, maintenance and general mechanical repairs
· Advanced diagnostics and fault finding
· Electrical diagnosis
· Engine and transmission repairs & rebuilds
· Timing belts, timing chains and major mechanical work
· Performance upgrades and modifications
· Specialist Peugeot work
· Vehicle inspection, recommissioning & restoration
· Rolling road/dyno testing, tuning & re-mapping
· Diagnosing performance and drivability issues
· Using diagnostic equipment and technical information
· Solving faults rather than simply replacing parts
· Supporting and sharing knowledge with less experienced technicians and apprentices
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of more complex jobs and use your experience to help us maintain the standards our customers expect.
We’re Looking for a Technician Who…
· Has substantial hands-on experience as a Vehicle Technician
· Is confident carrying out mechanical repairs independently
· Has strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
· Enjoys solving technical problems
· Has excellent attention to detail
· Takes genuine pride in their workmanship
· Doesn’t need to be constantly supervised
· Is organised and takes responsibility for their jobs
· Wants to learn new skills
· Is comfortable tackling complex or unusual faults
· Works well as part of a small team
· Is happy to share knowledge and help develop junior technicians
· Has a genuine interest in cars and automotive technology
· Holds a full UK driving licence
· Has their own appropriate technician’s tools
Peugeot, Citroën or wider Stellantis experience would be a major advantage, but it isn’t essential.
If you’re an excellent technician from another manufacturer or independent specialist, we’d still like to hear from you.
Performance & Dyno Work
This is where the position differs from many Senior Technician roles.
We have our own in-house rolling road/dyno and undertake performance and specialist work alongside our everyday workshop operations.
You’ll have the opportunity to become involved with:
· Performance upgrades
· Modified & motorsport vehicles
· Performance fault diagnosis
· Rolling road tuning
· Vehicle setup and development
· Before-and-after testing
· More unusual technical and performance projects
Already have performance or dyno experience? Great.
Don’t have dyno experience but you’re a strong diagnostic technician who wants to learn? We’re interested in talking to you too.
What You’ll Get
· £38,000–£48,000 per annum, depending on experience and technical ability
· Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm
· Alternate Saturday mornings, 9:00am–12:00pm
· Christmas shutdown
· Company pension scheme
· Heated & air-conditioned workshop
· Modern renovated workshop
· Full kitchen facilities
· In-house rolling road/dyno
· Varied and interesting workload
· Performance and specialist projects
· Opportunity to develop your diagnostic and performance knowledge
· Training and development opportunities
· Small, experienced team
· Friendly, family-run working environment
· The opportunity to have a genuine influence within the workshop
Why Pug1Off?
We’re not a main dealer, fast-fit centre or large workshop where you’re simply another technician on the ramp.
We’re a specialist independent business, and we’re proud of the knowledge and reputation we’ve built.
We want someone who enjoys understanding problems and developing solutions rather than simply replacing parts until the problem disappears.
You’ll be trusted to use your experience, tackle interesting jobs and contribute ideas.
And because we’re a small team, what you bring to the business genuinely matters.
Interested, But Not Actively Job Hunting?
We know that some of the best technicians aren’t necessarily scrolling through job adverts every day.
If the role sounds interesting but you’d simply like an informal and confidential conversation before deciding whether to apply, we’d be very happy to have a chat.
Likewise, if you’re currently working for a main dealer or another independent and wondering whether specialist/performance work might be your next step, don’t let a lack of Peugeot experience put you off.
