We are seeking to recruit motivated individual/individuals to join our drilling team. This is an entry-level position offering full training and a potential pathway to becoming a qualified Support Operative. You will work alongside experienced Lead Drillers on a variety of projects including geotechnical, environmental, water, and construction-related drilling operations.
No drilling experience is required—just the right attitude and willingness to learn.
What You'll Do
As a Trainee Support Operative, you will support a wide range of drilling operations including:
- Ground Investigation, Water & Geothermal Boreholes
- Range of ad hoc duties e.g. delivering equipment to site
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Driller with daily drilling operations
- Support rig set-up and site preparation activities
- Handle drilling tools, rods, casings, and installation materials safely
- Carry out basic maintenance, cleaning, and inspections of equipment
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
- Assist with sample collection and site housekeeping
Work Conditions:
- Outdoor work in all weathers and conditions
- Travel required across the UK with overnight stays during the week
- Occasional night works / weekend works may be required
- Standard 45-hour work week with paid overtime available
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from:
- Candidates aged 21 or above (Insurance requirements)
- Machine/vehicle operators
- Skilled or semi-skilled workers in construction, agriculture, or related industries
- Anyone practical and hands-on looking to learn a new trade
Requirements:
- Full clean UK driving licence (B category car driving license is essential)
- Own transport to reach our Glastonbury yard
- Willingness to work and stay away from home, for up to 4 nights per week in accommodation provided by the Company
- The ability to pass/provide a negative drugs screening is essential. Pre-employment drugs testing will be carried out, as will continual random tests.
Desirable (but not essential):
- B+E licence (towing) or C/C1 + E licence (vehicles over 7.5T)
- Valid CSCS card
Training can be provided for the right candidate
