MDJ Electrical Services Ltd is a growing electrical contractor delivering planned and reactive electrical services, testing and inspection, maintenance and installation works across commercial and public-sector environments.
We are looking for an organised and proactive Operations Coordinator to take responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day workload of the business and ensuring jobs progress efficiently from initial instruction through to completion.
The Role
The Operations Coordinator will play a central role in the day-to-day operation of MDJ Electrical Services.
You will coordinate engineers, subcontractors, customers, suppliers and job information to ensure work is correctly planned, completed on time and properly documented.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities and confident communicating with engineers, customers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Job Planning & Scheduling
- Plan and coordinate engineers' daily and weekly workloads.
- Allocate reactive, planned maintenance, installation and remedial works.
- Schedule appointments and site visits with customers.
- Ensure engineers have the correct job information before attending site.
- Coordinate return visits and outstanding works.
- Monitor job deadlines and prioritise urgent works.
- Adjust schedules when emergencies, absences or changes occur.
- Ensure engineer time and resources are being used efficiently.
Job Management
- Monitor jobs from initial instruction through to completion.
- Maintain accurate information within the company's job management systems.
- Review outstanding and overdue jobs and take action to progress them.
- Ensure completed jobs contain the necessary paperwork and information.
- Chase outstanding job sheets, photographs, test results and certification.
- Identify jobs requiring further works, quotations or return visits.
- Ensure completed jobs are passed through for invoicing promptly.
Engineers & Subcontractors
- Act as a central point of contact for engineers regarding their workload.
- Coordinate subcontractors and ensure they have the information required to complete works.
- Monitor progress throughout the working day.
- Assist engineers with access arrangements, materials and site information.
- Escalate operational or performance issues to the Managing Director where appropriate.
Customers
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding appointments and job progress.
- Provide updates on outstanding and ongoing works.
- Coordinate access arrangements and site contacts.
- Respond to operational queries and resolve straightforward issues.
- Escalate complaints or significant issues where necessary.
- Maintain strong working relationships with key customers.
Materials & Suppliers
- Coordinate material requirements with engineers.
- Place and track orders with approved suppliers.
- Arrange collections and deliveries where required.
- Ensure materials are available in time for scheduled works.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding availability and lead times.
- Help minimise unnecessary purchases and last-minute material requirements.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure required job documentation is received and correctly recorded.
- Monitor outstanding electrical certificates and reports.
- Ensure photographs and supporting evidence are attached to jobs where required.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records for planned and reactive maintenance.
- Help ensure company procedures and customer requirements are followed.
Operational Control
- Maintain visibility of the company's current workload.
- Identify jobs that are becoming overdue or require intervention.
- Highlight potential scheduling, staffing or resource issues.
- Help develop and improve operational processes.
- Produce regular updates on outstanding jobs and workload.
- Support the Managing Director with operational information and reporting.
- Take ownership of routine operational issues and see them through to resolution.

Desirable Experience
Experience within an electrical, construction, facilities management, engineering or similar service-based business would be advantageous.
Previous experience in any of the following would also be beneficial:

Customer serviceElectrical qualifications are not essential, although an understanding of electrical or building-services terminology would be beneficial.
Pay: £26,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
