North West Recycling, Cumbria’s leading waste management supplier are actively recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our expanding team.
We employ over 100 staff, operate over 30 vehicles, and deploy over 2500 skips and containers from our 30-acre purpose-built waste management, skip hire and recycling facility near Carlisle, in Cumbria.

The Role
We are currently looking to hire experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our maintenance team working on our fixed process plant through both planned and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities and duties to include: -
- Inspecting and maintaining of fixed process plants including Lindner shredders, trommels, flex deck vibrating screen, non-ferrous separator, ferrous magnets, air density separator and associated conveyors.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive work to breakdowns.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with the mechanical workings of a production line (essential);
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements including complying with risk assessments, permit of works, LOLER, COSHH (essential);
- Experience of record keeping and working to schedules (essential);
- NVQ level 3 or relevant experience with proven work history. (Lower levels considered at a reduced rate also);
- Fabrication and welding experience (essential).
The Package
Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience.
This role will consist of 12 hour shifts on a ‘4-on, 4-off’ basis.
Pension 3% Employer contribution.
20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. An additional days holiday for every year of service up to 5 days.
