We are seeking a highly experienced, fully Cable Assembly Technician to lead and execute the production of complex, electronic low-voltage cable assemblies and wire harnesses. Operating with complete independence and minimum supervision, you will be trusted to take raw technical specifications and engineering drawings and translate them into pristine, high-reliability end products. This role demands an expert-level understanding of termination, looming, and crimping, alongside a proactive approach to technical problem-solving and strict quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Autonomous Execution: Take full ownership of the production workflow from engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOM) through to final inspection with zero direct supervision.
- Low-Voltage Assembly: Fabricate intricate low-voltage cable assemblies, multi-core wire harnesses, and custom looms to exacting tolerances.
- Precision Terminations: Perform high-level crimping (machined and stamped contacts), micro-soldering, and multi-pin connector allocations.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose and repair faults, perform rework on existing cable systems, and advise on production efficiency issues.
- Material & Tool Management: Set up and calibrate automated wire cutting/stripping machinery, select correct hand tooling (die sets, tension tools), and verify components against the BOM.
- Compliance: Ensure all personal output adheres strictly to standard industry criteria and statutory regulations under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
Skills and Qualifications
- Self-Reliance: Proven history of working in an unsupervised production environment, maintaining high productivity and impeccable self-discipline.
- Master Tool Proficiency: Flawless mastery of hand tools, mechanical/pneumatic crimpers, cable cutting, wire strippers and heat guns
- Blueprint Literacy: Exceptional ability to interpret technical drawings, geometric dimensions, and wiring schedules without instruction.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5+ years of demonstrable experience specialising in electronic cable or harness assembly within a high-spec manufacturing sector
- Certifications: Not a necessity but an active or recent certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 (ideally Revision E or F) as an independent standard for acceptable wire harness assembly would be desirable.
- Education: Relevant NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline is highly desirable.

Working Conditions & Benefits
- Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30 am – 4.00 pm Friday 7.30 am – 1.00 pm , 37.5 hours per week. Some Flexibility is possible for the right candidate.
