Data Architect
You'll report to the Head of Data, with a dotted line to the IT Director, and work closely with the Principal Data Engineer, the Data Engineering Manager, the Head of Pricing Analytics and the Data Products Manager. You'll also engage directly with commercial, marketing, and finance stakeholders, and with IT, Legal, Infosec and the wider architecture community across ATG Entertainment.
Data is at the centre of how ATG Entertainment runs its business. Our Global Data Platform (GDP), built on Snowflake, centralises ticketing, marketing, financial and operational data. It underpins how we price seats, run marketing campaigns, support our venues, and make strategic decisions across 64 venues in multiple countries.
We're looking for a Data Architect to own the data architecture behind some of our most important commercial decisions: how tickets are priced, where marketing investment goes, how demand is forecast and how shows are traded. You will define the models, definitions, keys, and data contracts those decisions depend on, so that pricing, marketing measurement, forecasting, and trading are built once and run off the same numbers.
You will work towards a single, coherent target state for commercial data: consistent models, definitions and contracts across systems and markets. You will evolve that architecture alongside live delivery, ensuring each design decision either moves ATG towards the target state or is a deliberate, documented exception with a clear path back.
You will design across markets. ATG trades in the UK, the US and Europe, and each market has its own systems, operating models, and regulatory requirements, and adopts common standards at a different pace. You will define the architecture that holds across all of them, and the integration patterns that let regional systems conform to the global model over time.
The breadth of data is wide. It covers consumer and digital data, including web and app behaviour, advertising and campaign data, CRM and customer data platform flows, identity, and customer feedback. It covers the financial data our commercial models need, including budgets, forecasts, sales, and revenue actuals, which you will architect into commercial data products while Finance remains the owner of Finance reporting. Where enterprise and operational systems hold data that explains ATG's commercial performance, such as event and venue scheduling, retail point of sale and customer service, you will support enterprise and solutions architecture on the data design, so that it can be integrated into the commercial data model to the same standard.
You will design for regulation, security, and cost from the outset. Consumer and marketing data is subject to UK and EU GDPR, PECR and US state privacy laws including California (CCPA/CPRA), so classification, consent, minimisation, retention, deletion, and cross-border transfer are design decisions rather than a final review step. You will work with Legal and Information Security to make compliance a property of the architecture.
We are building towards data that machines can use as reliably as people, starting with GenBI, where commercial users can ask questions in natural language and receive trusted answers. You will design the definitions, models, metadata and contracts that make this possible, together with the access patterns that determine what each consumer can see, at what grain, and how data may be used for recommendation or operational action.
Our Principal Data Engineer owns the technical architecture of the GDP itself and its engineering standards. You own the architecture of the data that moves through it: its models, definitions, keys, metadata and contracts, and the design of the data behind commercial decisions. This is a design, standards, and authority role with strong hands-on architecture. You will set the standard, produce the documentation others build from, review designs against it, and provide architecture assurance before engineering build begins.
Key responsibilities
Define common business entities, definitions, hierarchies, and keys, so commercial products carry consistent meaning across markets and source systems.
Architect the data behind pricing, revenue management, marketing measurement, forecasting and trading, including model inputs and outputs, and how decisions and outcomes are recorded and measured.
Design the consumer and digital data model spanning web and app behaviour, advertising and campaign data, CRM and customer data platform flows, identity, and customer feedback, keyed so that behaviour, marketing investment, and sales can be joined.
Architect the financial data commercial models need, including budgets, forecasts, sales, and revenue actuals, working with Finance and maintaining clear ownership boundaries for Finance reporting.
Define and govern data contracts for integrations with the GDP and other agreed priority systems, covering ownership, fields, keys, formats, quality expectations, refresh, and change management.
Design how analytics, ML models, AI services and agents access and interact with the platform, including API and MCP interfaces, permissions, grain, and the boundary between read and write-back.
Embed data protection and security into the architecture, including consent, retention, minimisation, and cross-border requirements across ATG markets.
Produce and maintain conceptual and logical data models, data flows, lineage, architecture decision records and reusable design patterns, documented at the level needed by both engineering teams and commercial stakeholders.
Provide architecture assurance across delivery: review designs, challenge where needed, approve designs for build, and represent Data in cross-team architecture forums.
Your skills, qualities, and experience
Leadership Qualities
Technical Expertise
Strong conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling, including dimensional and event-based approaches over high-volume transactional data.
Integration design across API, event, streaming and batch patterns, and the data contracts that govern them.
Practical proficiency in SQL, Python, and transformation tooling such as dbt, sufficient to prototype and review what engineering teams build.
AI-fluent, with practical experience of AI tooling and an understanding of machine-readable definitions, agent access patterns, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) over structured data.
Essential
Consumer, digital and transactional data at scale, including strong web and app analytics architecture with hands-on GA4 experience, connecting customer behaviour, marketing investment, and sales outcomes.
Common definitions, entities, and keys established across multiple source systems and teams, including where systems cannot fully conform.
Data design for ML, AI or automated decisioning, including feature and serving data patterns, point-in-time correctness, controlled access, and capture of decisions and outcomes.
Multi-market or multi-region architecture across differing systems, currencies, languages, and regulatory requirements.
Architecture practice across a complex technology estate, including current and target state views, architecture decision records, and reusable design patterns, with the ability to influence teams and uphold standards across organisational boundaries.
Desirable
Live entertainment, ticketing, travel, hospitality, retail, or another business where price, demand and inventory interact dynamically.
Customer data platforms, identity resolution, consent and preference management, mobile measurement platforms, and paid, affiliate or social advertising data.
Operational and venue systems, including point of sale, event and venue scheduling, and work management platforms.
