Applied Psychologist - Clinical

If you are looking to experience the rewards of applying your full range of psychologist skills in the NHS then you can do so with us at Leicestershire Partnership Trust. We are looking for a part-time psychologist (22.5hrs) at band 8a, or at band 7 with a supportive development plan leading to 8a, to join our Adult Neighbourhood Mental Health Team in Coalville Leicestershire and work alongside other practitioner psychologists, clinical associate in psychology , mental health & wellbeing practitioners, trainees and other disciplines.

A Preceptorship is a structured period of transition for the Newly Qualified Practitioner, during which time they are supported by an experienced practitioner to develop their confidence and refine their skills (NHS Employers, 2017). For a recently qualified Psychologist a period of time at Band 7 is an opportunity to consolidate and further develop core practitioner skills. When the relevant developmental objectives are reached the Psychologist will be re-graded to Band 8a starting pay scale salary.

We have a substantial service structure with psychologists in lead roles including directorate level, and pathway leads who are supported by other psychologists at every grade. There are therefore clear career paths for psychologists who join us. In this multidisciplinary setting you will have opportunity to apply and/or hone the breadth of psychology skills, and do so with the support and supervision of a group of experienced psychologists that meet regularly for clinical supervision, learning, service development discussion, and peer support. You will be able to choose participation in teaching, training, research, service development, supervision, team supervision, reflective practice and direct clinical work for individuals and groups. There will be opportunities to develop yourself through internal and external training programmes. As EMDR is part of our offer we will look to put you forward for this training. We support professional development through annual appraisal/development plans, post-qualification development, job plans and supervision.

We have strong links to the University of Leicester Clinical Psychology Department; offering teaching sessions, trainee placements and input to the development of the course curriculum. Our service is also part of a network of Clinical Psychologists who work within Leicestershire partnership NHS Trust including psychologists in adult mental health, perinatal and maternal mental health, families and young people, learning difficulties, neuropsychology, health psychology and a specialist forensic service. This group meets on a regular basis to exchange ideas through a forum meeting.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)

1. To provide specialist risk assessment, psychological assessment, formulation and

intervention of clients referred to the team.

2. To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, training and consultation to others

across a wide range of agencies and settings where appropriate.

3. To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.

4. Participate in partnership working with individuals, groups, communities and agencies.

5. Establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on

complex and potentially stressful topics in a range of situations.

6. Has a delegated responsibility to manage the workload of junior psychological professionals on lower

bandings, including trainee Psychologists, within the framework of team

policies and procedures.

7. To utilise, theory, established evidence-based literature and research to support

evidence based practice in individual work and with other team members.

8. To contribute to the team meetings and effective operation of the community team.

9. Familiarity with the principals of child protection procedures and legislation in relation to

the client group and mental health.

10. Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

11. Promote best practice in health, safety and security.

12. Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights.

13. Collect, collate and report both routine and complex data and information.
