Join Positive Futures as a Support Worker and help people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autism to live independently, and to have real choice and control over their own lives. You don't need formal qualifications or experience for this role, just kindness, patience, and a sense of fun.
You'll get to know the person you're supporting properly: their goals, their routines, what independence looks like for them. From there, you'll support them with everything from daily living skills and personal care, to getting out into their community, keeping in touch with the people who matter to them, and speaking up for themselves.

About The Role
Every day looks a little different, because every person you support is different too.
As a Support Worker, you'll form a positive relationship with the person you support, always maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with them and their families. You'll help them look after their home, manage their money and medication as independently as possible, and get the right support from other services when they need it, whether that's a GP, a social worker, or an advocate.
You'll support people to stay safe and healthy in every part of their life, including personal care where it's needed, always treating people with dignity and respect. You'll help them get out into their community, stay connected to the people who matter to them, and speak up for themselves, seeking advocacy support where it's needed rather than deciding things for them.
Sleepover Availability
We are particularly interested in Support Workers who are available to undertake sleepover shifts.
During a sleepover, you will stay overnight in the home of the person we support and be available to provide support during the night if required. A sleepover allowance will be paid in line with organisational policy. Sleepover shifts are paid at a flat rate, with any hours worked before or after the sleepover paid at £12.71 per hour. For example, on a shift from 9pm to 10am, with a sleepover from 11pm to 8am, the flat sleepover rate applies overnight, while hours worked before and after the sleepover are paid at the standard hourly rate.
You'll also act as a role model for other staff and volunteers, sharing what you learn and helping new colleagues find their feet. Accurate record keeping (incidents, risk assessments, communication logs) is part of the job too, using our usual digital systems.
