We're a small, busy fabrication company with CNC machinery, and we're looking for a hands-on, multi-skilled person to join our team.
We're looking for someone who can comfortably move between the workshop, computer and customers, helping us take jobs from initial enquiry right through to production.
You'll ideally have CNC and fabrication experience, but just as importantly, you'll be someone who is organised, practical, confident speaking to customers and happy to get stuck in wherever needed.
What you'll be doing
The role will involve a mixture of:
- Operating and setting CNC machinery
- Reading engineering drawings and understanding customer requirements
- CAD/CAM work and preparing jobs for production
- Nesting parts and getting the most from sheet/material
- Preparing quotes and estimating jobs
- Speaking to customers by phone and email
- Answering enquiries and working out the best way to manufacture a job
- Planning and scheduling production
- Organising materials and jobs through the workshop
- Liaising with suppliers and customers where required
- Helping with fabrication, finishing and general workshop duties
- Quality checking completed work
- Keeping jobs moving and solving problems when they arise
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience with CNC machinery and/or fabrication
- Can read and understand technical drawings
- Has good computer skills and is comfortable learning new software
- Has an understanding of CAD/CAM and nesting, or is keen to learn
- Is confident speaking to customers on the phone and by email
- Can put together accurate quotes and understand costs
- Is organised and can plan and prioritise work
- Has good attention to detail
- Is practical and enjoys solving problems
- Is happy working both hands-on in the workshop and behind a computer
- Can work independently and use their initiative
- Has a good attitude and isn't afraid to get stuck in
