PCE Technology is one of the Southwest's leading suppliers of two-way radio, vehicle technology and communication systems. We're growing, and we're looking for a Vehicle Installation Engineer to join our small, highly skilled team. There will be a cross over with our radio engineering role and we'd like you to learn these skills as well.
You may already be an experienced vehicle installer or auto electrician. Or perhaps you come from a background in vehicle electrics, emergency vehicle fit-outs, CCTV, security systems, telematics, lighting, access control or another technical installation environment.
You don't need to be an expert in two-way radio. What matters to us is that you have the practical skills, technical aptitude, attention to detail and common sense to do a great job — and the drive to learn more.

What you'll be doing
This is a practical, hands-on role with vehicle installation at its core.
You'll be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining a wide range of equipment in customer vehicles, working on everything from straightforward installations to more complex bespoke systems.
Your role will include:
- Installing two-way radios and associated communication equipment into cars, vans, commercial vehicles and specialist vehicles.
- Installing vehicle technology including warning lights, beacons, antennas, control systems and associated equipment.
- Carrying out 12V and 24V electrical installations, including identifying suitable power supplies and connection points.
- Routing and securing cables neatly and professionally, ensuring installations are robust, safe and maintainable.
- Removing and refitting vehicle trim and panels without causing damage.
- Using appropriate tools and techniques to drill, cut, mount and secure equipment.
- Installing equipment in accordance with vehicle and manufacturer requirements.
- Testing installations and carrying out fault-finding where something isn't working as it should.
- Diagnosing electrical and installation problems and working out practical solutions.
- Programming and configuring equipment once installed.
- Carrying out maintenance and modifications to existing installations.
- Attending customer sites and working directly with customers where required.
- Completing installation documentation and recording equipment fitted.
- Carrying out pre-installation surveys where required to understand the vehicle, application and customer's requirements.
- Working alongside the wider engineering team on larger or more complex projects.
The work is varied, and you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across vehicle electrics, communications, electronics and specialist vehicle technology.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a great installer first and foremost.
You might have years of experience fitting equipment into vehicles, or you may have developed your practical skills in another technical environment.
Relevant experience could include:
- Vehicle installation or auto electrical work.
- Emergency or specialist vehicle conversions.
- Fleet vehicle fit-outs.
- Two-way radio installation.
- CCTV or mobile surveillance systems.
- Vehicle tracking and telematics.
- Security and alarm systems.
- Warning lights and safety equipment.
- Access control.
- Electrical or electronic equipment installation.
We're deliberately open-minded about where your experience comes from.
You don't have to know everything about radio. If you're already a skilled vehicle installer, we can teach you the radio side. Equally, you may bring knowledge from another industry that could genuinely improve the way we work.

Working hours
Monday–Thursday: 09:00–17:00
Friday: 09:00–16:30
30-minute lunch break each day.
37 hours per week.
Flexitime is possible, although occasional early starts or late finishes may be required depending on customer requirements and project work.
