With over 30 years’ experience in the pet industry, we source a wide range of products from trusted suppliers across the UK and internationally, supplying thousands of independent pet retailers throughout the UK.
As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an organised and proactive Procurement & Supply Chain Coordinator to join our team in Fife.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role at the heart of our purchasing and supply chain operation.
You’ll help ensure we have the right products, in the right quantities, arriving at the right time.
Working with UK and international suppliers, freight and logistics partners and colleagues across the business, you’ll manage purchase orders from placement through to delivery, monitor stock requirements, track inbound shipments and maintain accurate purchasing information.
We’re particularly looking for someone who follows things through.
You won’t simply place an order and wait for it to arrive. You’ll keep on top of suppliers and shipments, chase updates, spot potential delays and help resolve problems before they affect stock availability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Raising and managing purchase orders
- Monitoring stock levels and supporting purchasing and replenishment
- Tracking orders from placement through to delivery
- Proactively chasing suppliers for production, dispatch and delivery updates
- Monitoring lead times and identifying potential shortages or delays
- Communicating regularly with UK and international suppliers
- Liaising with freight, transport and logistics providers
- Tracking UK and international inbound shipments
- Preparing and maintaining import and customs documentation
- Maintaining accurate supplier, product, pricing and purchasing information
- Monitoring supplier delivery performance
- Investigating order, delivery, goods-in and invoice discrepancies
- Working closely with our warehouse, finance, sales and management teams
- Helping improve purchasing and supply chain processes
What We’re Looking For
The right person is more important to us than having a particular qualification.
You’ll need to be:
- Highly organised – able to manage multiple suppliers, orders and deadlines
- Detail-focused – accuracy is essential when dealing with purchasing, stock and shipments
- Proactive – you naturally follow things through and don’t wait to be chased yourself
- Confident communicating with suppliers – including picking up the phone when something needs resolved
- Comfortable with numbers and data – including quantities, pricing, stock information and spreadsheets
- Systems-minded – comfortable learning and using ERP, stock management and purchasing systems
- Reliable and consistent
- A practical problem solver
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment
Experience
Previous experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Purchasing or procurement
- Supply chain
- Stock control or inventory management
- Logistics or freight
- Import/export
- Customs documentation
- ERP or stock management systems
- Excel and data handling
Experience with international purchasing, importing or shipping would be particularly useful, although it isn’t essential for the right candidate.
Who Would This Role Suit?
This role would suit an experienced Purchasing Assistant, Procurement Coordinator, Supply Chain Coordinator, Buyer/Planner or Junior Buyer looking for a varied role with greater responsibility.
It could also suit someone with strong logistics, stock control or import/export experience who wants to develop further within procurement.
This isn’t a purely administrative position. You’ll be expected to take ownership of your workload, communicate confidently with suppliers and make sure actions are followed through to completion.
At the same time, this isn’t a senior strategic procurement or management position. The focus is very much on organisation, execution and keeping the supply chain moving.
