About Us
Sign and Print Creation is a growing print and signage company providing complete print, signage and branding solutions for businesses throughout Scotland and across the UK.
We produce a wide variety of products including indoor and outdoor signage, large-format graphics, posters, canvases, banners, vinyl graphics, stickers and labels, leaflets, business stationery, ID cards and other bespoke printed products.
Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, we are looking for an Experienced Print & Sign Production Operator to join our team in Dalkeith.
About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on position within a busy print and signage environment.
Previous experience working within a commercial print shop, large-format printing company, signage company or similar print-production environment is essential.
This is not a trainee position.
Training will be provided on our specific machinery, products and workflow. However, we are looking for someone who already has a good understanding of the printing industry and is comfortable working around professional printing, cutting and finishing machinery.
We are particularly interested in someone who can become productive relatively quickly without requiring months of basic print-production training.
Main Responsibilities
Initially, the role will be primarily focused on production and finishing, including:
- Operating and assisting with large-format printing equipment
- General day-to-day print production
- Laminating printed vinyl and graphics
- Mounting graphics onto PVC/Foamex, Correx, ACM/Dibond and other sign materials
- Vinyl cutting, weeding and preparation
- Trimming and finishing signs, posters and printed graphics
- Producing and finishing canvases
- Preparing stickers, labels, posters and other printed products
- Checking finished jobs for print quality, measurements, colour, quantities and accuracy
- Packaging completed customer orders
- Preparing orders for courier dispatch and customer collection
- Keeping machinery and production areas clean, tidy and organised
- Monitoring materials and reporting when stock is running low
- Helping organise jobs according to production deadlines
- General workshop and production duties as required
Future Development of the Role
As you become familiar with our products, customers and workflow, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibility.
This may include:
- Preparing customer artwork for production
- Checking artwork and customer specifications
- Making basic artwork amendments
- Managing straightforward print jobs from order through to completion
- Managing print queues and production schedules
- Communicating with customers regarding their orders
- Assisting customers with suitable print and signage options
- Handling customer collections
- General customer service and order management
We are looking for someone who can develop into an important long-term member of our team rather than simply carry out one repetitive production task.
Experience Required
Applicants should have previous experience within commercial printing, large-format printing, signage production or a similar professional print environment.
Experience with some of the following would be particularly beneficial:
- Large-format printers
- Epson, Roland, Mimaki, HP or similar professional printing equipment
- RIP software
- Vinyl cutters and plotters
- Summa, Graphtec or similar cutting equipment
- Laminators
- Vinyl cutting and weeding
- Vinyl application

- PVC/Foamex signage
- Correx signage
- ACM/Dibond signage
- Poster and large-format finishing
- Canvas production
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- CorelDRAW
- Preparing print-ready artwork
- General commercial print finishing
Experience with our exact machinery is not essential. Good previous print-industry experience is.
The Person We're Looking For
The successful candidate should:
- Have previous professional print/signage experience
- Be confident working around printing and finishing machinery
- Have a practical, hands-on approach
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Be confident working with measurements and specifications
- Take pride in producing clean, professional finished work
- Be reliable and punctual
