Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organised Shift Leader to oversee daily operations within our large volunteer team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining smooth workflow during their designated shift. They will also be required to work with other supervisors to open and close the store during management absence. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to develop strong leadership and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate team activities during the shift to ensure operational efficiency.
Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client queries and resolving issues promptly.
Monitor staff performance, offering guidance and support to meet store standards.
Ensure health and safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, banking, and maintaining accurate records.
Assist with receiving deliveries and carrying out stock rotation on consumables.
Open & close the store when management is absent for holidays, sickness or Area meetings.
Support training of new team members and promote a positive work environment.
Work with a large, varied team, which includes young volunteers and vulnerable adult volunteers.
Will be required to undergo a DBS check.

Skills

Proven experience in customer service with excellent interpersonal skills.
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced setting. This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to take on leadership responsibilities while contributing positively to our charity's fundraising.
