Full job description

Essential Requirements

Qualifications: Degree or recognised qualification in Fire Engineering (or closely related discipline).
Standards Knowledge: Expert working knowledge of Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, and UK Building Regulations.
Core Skill: Proven track record in preparing, reviewing, and defending fire strategies for complex commercial and residential developments.
Licence & Travel: Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel to client sites nationally.
Professional Body: Membership with the IFE (or working towards IEng/CEng status) preferred.

About the Role Veteran Fire Safety Ltd (VFS) is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to deliver technical fire safety solutions across a varied UK portfolio, including commercial, retail, hospitality, and complex residential sites. You will work independently to provide technically robust advice, oversee fire strategy design, and support client compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and review technical fire strategies and fire strategy reports for new and existing buildings.
Assess means of escape, exit capacity, travel distances, compartmentation, and structural fire protection.
Evaluate active and passive systems, including fire alarms, smoke control, and suppression.
Review architectural drawings and propose compliant fire-engineered solutions for design departures.
Conduct technical site surveys and liaise with Building Control, architects, and project teams.
Provide high-level technical support to internal risk assessors and compliance teams.
