Full job description

Associate Director - Group Financial Controller

Starlight International is seeking a qualified Associate Director - Group Financial Controller to lead and develop the finance function across its group of companies.

This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, taxation, statutory compliance, internal controls, and finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial operations, and act as the principal finance business partner to senior management and the Board.
Serve as a director of the Company and/or other Group entities, subject to Board and regulatory approval where required, and assume the associated statutory, fiduciary, governance, and regulatory responsibilities.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and prepare or review management accounts, statutory financial statements, cash-flow reports, performance analyses, and Board reporting in accordance with the applicable reporting framework, including IFRS.
Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, long-term financial planning, and scenario analysis.
Manage cash flow, liquidity, working capital, banking relationships, funding requirements, and treasury activities.
Oversee general-ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and inter-company transactions.
Ensure compliance with applicable Isle of Man corporate income tax, VAT, ITIP, National Insurance, Companies Registry, statutory reporting, and economic-substance requirements, including the preparation and filing of relevant returns and reports.
Coordinate annual accounts filings, and act as the principal contact for auditors, tax advisers, banks, and other professional advisers.
Develop and maintain financial policies, delegated authorities, internal controls, and risk-management processes covering financial reporting, liquidity, taxation, operations, and fraud.
Support financing arrangements, acquisitions, restructurings, due diligence, and other strategic projects.
Improve finance systems, reporting tools, data quality, process automation, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of professional qualifications and relevant experience.
A recognized professional accounting qualification (ICAEW ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS CA, or equivalent) with current membership in good standing with the relevant professional body.
At least three years' experience in a senior finance role, such as Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Senior Finance Manager, or equivalent.
Demonstrable experience preparing management accounts, statutory financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow reports, and senior-management or Board reporting.
Experience managing finance operations across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
Practical knowledge of Isle of Man corporate income tax, VAT, ITIP, National Insurance, Companies Registry, statutory filing, and economic-substance requirements.
Excellent written and spoken English, with strong analytical, organisational, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
High standards of integrity, confidentiality, accuracy, and professional judgement.
The right to work in, and residence in, the Isle of Man.

Nice to Have

Advanced Microsoft Excel and NetSuite skills.
